🚀 Introduction – May the 4th Be With You, Jango

As a LEGO Star Wars fan and longtime admirer of prequel-era ships, few things say “galactic bounty hunter chic” quite like the Firespray-Class starship. So when LEGO released Set 75409: Jango Fett’s Firespray-Class Starship as part of its 2025 Star Wars Day lineup, I knew this one had to join the fleet.

I picked this up, today, May the 4th, taking advantage of LEGO’s Insider offer; paying 50% with points and snagging a free Jango Fett keyring that made my inner 12-year-old grin. The sales assistant told me they had them in the Ready to Ship box and of course that better protects this set for the commute home.

📦 Unboxing Experience

Right out of the gate, the presentation is premium. The box art features Jango’s iconic blue-and-silver colour scheme, cutting across the dusty skies of Kamino with Slave I’s distinctive curved profile. Inside: 1 instruction manual, 6 numbered bags, and a small sticker sheet.

🧱 Build Experience (2970 Pieces)

Over the course of a calm Sunday afternoon, this build hit the sweet spot between relaxing and immersive.

Highlights include:

  • Cockpit assembly that smartly uses transparent blue bricks for a clean windshield effect.
  • Wing articulation mechanism using technic pins—smooth and satisfying.
  • Hidden rear compartment for carbonite bricks or… bounty snacks?

The build time was around 4.5 hours at a casual pace, made even better by some Clone Wars soundtrack in the background.

🧍‍♂️ Minifigs – Fett-tastic

This set includes:

  • 🧊 Jango Fett – With updated silver armour printing and dual pistols, this is hands-down one of the best Fett variants LEGO has released.
  • 🔫 Young Boba Fett – A nice touch with printed torso, utility belt, and side-leg printing (no short legs here!).
  • 👷‍♂️ Kaminoan Technician – A surprise addition and welcome one, complete with translucent data pad and long-necked head mould.

Features & Playability

  • Folding Wings that rotate depending on flight or landing mode.
  • Spring-loaded shooters mounted below the cockpit—easy to reload, surprisingly powerful.
  • Retractable landing gear with a simple but effective sliding mechanism.
  • Carbonite accessory slot in the rear compartment, just like the old Bounty Hunter Gunship.

Despite its accuracy, the set remains sturdy—ideal for display but solid enough for kids to fly it around without bricks raining down, but that will not be happening with the Ultimate Collector Series addition.

🧩 Display Appeal

This ship looks fantastic on a shelf. The blue and grey colour scheme stands out among other Slave I-style ships, and it balances beautifully using the rear landing gear. I placed mine beside the 20th Anniversary Boba Fett’s Slave I for a subtle “father and son” vibe.

🎁 Extras & Value

Getting the Jango Fett keyring thrown in was a fun little bonus; it’s surprisingly well-detailed and now lives proudly on my key rack.

Paying 50% in LEGO Insider Points also made this feel like a smart pickup. At full price, €299.99, it’s reasonable, but using points to offset and paying €149.99 felt like good strategy.

🧠 Final Verdict: 9/10

Pros:

  • Excellent minifig selection
  • Satisfying build techniques
  • Iconic prequel-era design
  • Sturdy enough for play, sleek enough for display
  • Bonus keyring + points deal = value win

Cons:

  • Stickers (not prints) on side panels
  • Spring-loaded shooter mechanism could be better hidden

🚀 Would I Recommend It?

Absolutely. Whether you’re a prequel-era diehard, a LEGO Star Wars completist, or a parent buying for a mini Mandalorian-in-training, this set delivers in design, nostalgia, and sheer bounty-hunting fun.
